Breeders Choice is a vet-recommended and loved Australian brand dedicated to providing a safe, natural and sustainable litter solution for your feline companion. Made locally from 99% recycled paper, this premium pellet litter offers superior performance for a cleaner home and a greener planet. The entire range is free from harmful additives, chemicals, and perfumes, making it an excellent choice for sensitive cats, young kittens, and even small pets like rabbits and ferrets.
Key Benefits of Breeders Choice
- Superior Natural Odour Control: The dense, absorbent paper pellets quickly lock in moisture and naturally neutralise odours, without the use of synthetic perfumes or harsh chemicals.
- Eco-Friendly and Sustainable: Made from 99% recycled paper, Breeders Choice is biodegradable and compostable. Choosing this litter helps to reduce your pet's environmental paw-print.
- Low Dust and Low Tracking: The pellet form is virtually dust-free, promoting a healthier breathing environment for your cat and reducing the amount of litter tracked out of the tray and around the house.
- Gentle and Safe: The soft paper pellets are comfortable underfoot for all cats and small pets, including kittens, seniors and pets recovering from surgery. The non-toxic formula is safe even if accidentally ingested in small amounts, which is a key consideration when selecting litter for kittens.
- Multi-Pet Use: The natural, non-toxic nature of the paper pellets makes this product suitable as hygienic bedding or litter for small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and even birds and reptiles.
Breeders Choice FAQs
Is Breeders Choice litter safe for kittens to use?
Yes, absolutely! Breeders Choice is one of the safest litters available for kittens. It is non-toxic, unscented, gentle on paws and virtually dust-free, which protects their delicate respiratory systems. For maximum comfort and ease of training, we recommend the Breeders Choice PLUS Kitten Litter, which has softer, flatter pellets and a natural attractant.
How often does the litter need to be changed or cleaned?
To maintain optimal hygiene and odour control, solid waste should be scooped daily and stirred to aerate the remaining pellets. For a single-cat household, the entire litter tray should be emptied, washed, and refilled with fresh litter at least once every 7 to 10 days. In multi-cat homes, a full change may be necessary every 3 to 5 days and multiple litter trays should be provided.
Can I flush Breeders Choice litter down the toilet?
While the litter is biodegradable, it is not recommended to flush Breeders Choice litter down the toilet. As the pellets are highly absorbent they can swell and potentially cause plumbing issues. For the most sustainable disposal, simply remove solid waste and use the soiled pellets as a surface mulch in the garden (avoiding edible gardens) or dispose of them in your green bin, in accordance with your local council's guidelines
What is the difference between the Original and the PLUS Probiotic Cat Litter?
Both are made from the same recycled paper base, but the PLUS Probiotic Litter has added natural probiotics. These live, beneficial bacteria actively feed on and break down the odour-causing bacteria in the tray, offering an extra layer of powerful, continuous odour elimination, making it ideal for multi-cat households or those with particularly sensitive noses.
Can this litter be used for other pets, like rabbits or guinea pigs?
Yes. Due to its non-toxic, high-absorbency, and low-dust properties, Breeders Choice paper pellets are an excellent, safe, and hygienic choice for bedding and litter areas for small pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, birds and reptiles.
