Their air-dried range is made in New Zealand, while the wet dog foods that come in cans and trays are made in Australia. Black Hawk wet foods that come in pouches (for puppies, kittens and cats) are made in Thailand. To avoid an upset stomach, it is important to transition your pet to a new food gradually. Over a period of about 7 days, slowly increase the amount of Black Hawk food while decreasing the amount of their old food. For more information, we recommend a read through our article on How to Introduce a New Food to Your Pet.
When should I switch my puppy to adult dog food?
The transition from puppy to adult food depends on the breed size. For small breeds, it's recommended to switch at around 10-12 months, for medium breeds at around 12 months, large breeds at around 15-18 months and giant breeds at 18-24 months.
Is Black Hawk food 'complete and balanced'?
Yes. All Black Hawk dry and wet foods (not treats) are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) Food Nutrient Profiles for the intended life stage. This means they provide all the essential nutrients your pet needs for their daily health, and you don't need to add any other supplements to their diet.
